Filing Instructions

  • Follow Court Rules: All documents must comply with the California Rules of Court, beginning with Rule 2.100.
  • Where to File: File your documents at the courthouse where the harassment occurred or where the person you are requesting protection from lives.
  • Processing Times:
    • If filed before 10:00 AM: same-day pickup. 
    • If filed after 10:00 AM: next business day pickup.
  • Drop Box Locations: Drop boxes are available at the Stockton and Manteca courthouses from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Service by the Sheriff

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office can serve restraining orders. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 7000 N. Michael Canlis Boulevard, French Camp, CA 95231. Phone: (209) 468-4475. More information is available at Sheriff’s Civil Division.
